Covid-19 Updates

Dear Members,

Following the Priminister's update, we are able to quickly and safely move onto phase 3 of the returning policy at Hockley Tennis Club.

Doubles play, including members from different households is now permitted.

However, where ever physically practical, players are reminded to maintain the 2m social distancing where required. All players are also now reminded to either supply their own hand sanitiser or use the product supplied by the club at the patio doors, more emphasis is now placed on this due to players handling tennis balls. All players are reminded to try to avoid touching there face whilst playing and continue to stick to the club rules previously laid out, these include:

  • Courts MUST be booked online.
  • Arrive late for your court booking.
  • Leave before your booking period ends.
  • Pass back balls from other courts with your feet or racket.
  • Supply your own drink.
  • Maintain distancing, and the clubhouse is only to be opened in the case of an emergency.

The coaching team and committee will monitor the development of phase 3, and hold the right to remove doubles play if they feel safety of the courts and others is at risk.

I continue to monitor the work schools, other clubs and sports are doing as well as government guidelines as to when coaching can return. I can assure you we are ready to hit the ground running and we are putting the finishes touches to the 'return to coaching policy' which will be sent to all members over the coming days outlining my plan. We are in a good strong position to return soon and as soon as deemed safe to do so, we will be back on the court.

Finally, it is expected that those using the courts are members of the club, if you are still looking to rejoin please contact the membership sectary directly as a matter of urgency.

I again, thank you for your support and understanding. It was brilliant today to see all three courts in use in a safe and enjoyable way. Any issues please contact me directly.

Enjoy your doubles, maintain your distance.
